Meredith “Bunky” Howard Meador, Jr., 76, of Winterset, IA/Weslaco, TX, passed away in Harlingen, TX on August 8th, 2020.

Meredith was born in Louisville, KY on October 25th, 1943 to Meredith Howard and Anna Dean (Braun) Meador. In March of 1975, he was united in marriage to Marcia Ann Powell in Winterset, IA. He served in the United States Air Force for eight years. After his service, he worked and retired from CenturyLink.

In his free time, Meredith enjoyed camping with his family, coaching softball, playing softball for KRNT Diamond Dummies, and being active in the Boy Scouts. In his later years, Meredith was a member of the American Legion. He volunteered at the Warren County Fairgrounds Campground and at Bridgeview Army Corps of Engineers campground at Rathbun Lake as camp host. Meredith was also a member/held office for the Good Sams Club as well as a resident/officer for Leisure World in Weslaco, TX.

Meredith loved his family more than life itself. The joker in him never missed an opportunity to prank or tease us and you didn’t need to be blood to be on the receiving end of his jokes.

Meredith will be deeply missed by his wife, Marcia Meador; children, Martin Meador (Lori) of Indianola, IA; Anna Meador of Council Bluffs, IA; Amanda Allsup (Dennis John) of New Virginia, IA; Mark Meador (Amber) of Winterset, IA; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters, Clara Hart (E.G.) and Earlene Bennett; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Meredith was recently reunited with daughter, Lisa Nelson (Brian) of Louisville, KY.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Meredith and Anna (Braun) Meador; and sisters, Shirley Moseley, E Catherine Meador, and Wanda Meador.

A private memorial service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA on Thursday, August 20th, 2020 at 11 a.m. (For family only due to Covid-19.) Memorials may be directed to the family for a future designation.
