Charles Alexander Dies

Word has been received here of the death of Charles Alexander of Washington, D. C., elder brother of F. M. Alexander and Banks Alexander, who died last Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. McPherson. Death was due to heart trouble.

He leaves four brothers, F. M., Banks, Grant, of Colorado, and John, of Texas, and two daughters. His wife preceded him in death.

Transcriber's note: Transcribed as published, full name taken from Washington State Death Record which shows that he died in Pomeroy, Garfield, Washington. The deceased lived in Monroe Township, Madison County in the 1870 and 1880 censuses and has an 1873 Madison County Marriage Record.

Charles A. Alexander

On October 22 Charles A. Alexander died at the home of his daughter Mrs. E. E. McPherson of Pataha. He had been ill for the past year.

Mr. Alexander was born September 20, 1848 at Bellevue, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Alexander. He is survived by four brothers, Marion, Grant, Banks and John, all living in the east.

He joined the Union army when but 16 years of age and served until the end of the war. He was married to Martha Chenoweth on October 16, 1873. To this union were born eight children, two of them survive. Mrs Sarah Lee of Kansas City, Kansas, Mrs. E. E. McPherson of Pataha. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

His only son lost his life in the world war.

The funeral was held Saturday, October 24, at 10:30 a.m., The Rev. D. H. Morris officiating. The pallbearers were W. E. Graham, R. B. Keith, A. G. Farley, W. W. Prouty, Abner Parker, J. G. Miller.

The American Legion furnished a military escort to the cemetery and had charge of the services at the grave.
