The Reverend Allen Judd, who had charge of the Winterset Episcopal church for several years, one of the most widely known and best beloved priests of the Episcopal church in Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 1st, in Quincy, Florida.
Brief services were held in St. Paul’s rectory, conducted by the Rt. Rev. Edwin Gardner Weed, D. D., bishop of Florida, and the body was brought to Brooklyn, Iowa, for burial.
Funeral services were held in St. Mark’s church Brooklyn, Monday morning, June 7. The Rt. Rev. Theodore N. Morrison, D. D., bishop of Iowa read the burial office and made an address in which he expressed the deep appreciation of the clergy and people of the diocese Iowa of the life and work of the Rev. Mr. Judd who had spent practically all of his forty years in the ministry in various parishes and missions in Iowa.
Following the bishop’s address, the holy communion was celebrated with bishop coadjutor of Iowa as celebrant, the Rev. H. Rudd, D. D., Gospeler and the Rev. Felix H. Pickworth, epistoler.
Interment was made in the Brooklyn cemetery. Bishop Morrison reading the committal service. Six of the clergy acted as honorary pall bearers.
