Father of Chas. Orahood Is Dead

Stroke of Paralysis Proves Fatal to Redfield Man—Funeral Services Held Tuesday Afternoon

Dayton P. Orahood, father of Charles Orahood of Adel, passed away at his home near Redfield on Sunday afternoon, following a second stroke of paralysis, suffered four days previous. Two years ago he was stricken and when the second one came he was too weak to regain his strength.

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Methodist church at Redfield, conducted by Rev. C. N. Bigelow, of Adel. Burial was at the East Linn cemetery.

Mr. Orahood was 65 years of age, having been born at Bushnell., Ill., October 23, 1865. He was the son of Garett and Victoria Orahood. He came to Iowa with his parents when he was a boy and lived at Earlham. He was united in marriage there to Lizzie McKibben on Feb. 11, 1892 and to the union three children were born, all of whom, with the wife, survive him. The sons and daughters are Charles Orahood of Adel, Mrs. John Williams of Redfield and Mrs. Clifford Smith of Des Moines. There are also three sisters, Mrs. Mittie Shipley of Chicago; Mrs. Harriett Easterly of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Mary Kail of Adel. Three grandchildren are also bereaved.

Mr. Orahood, with the other members of his family, are members of the Methodist church at Redfield. He was a respected citizen, a good neighbor and a fine father. His death has brought much sorrow to all who knew him.
