Stricken suddenly Sunday; Death Occurs at 46 Years of Age
Paul W. Hair of Winterset died suddenly Sunday when stricken with a fatal heart attack as he and Bernard Morrissey were walking across a pasture at the Morrissey pony farm here. He was 46 years of age.
Mr. Hair had lived at Winterset for the last 11 years. He had been employed at the Hawkeye Lumber company, and prior to that was with the Eclipse Lumber company here.
He was a native of Griswold where he was born Jan. 11, 1920, a son of David D. and Florence Lay Hair. He serviced in the U. S. army during World War II as a sergeant in the 781st. Tank battalion, and was a member of the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the Methodist church.
Mr. Hair was married at Prescott on March 30, 1941, to Leola Glassinger, who survives him. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Florence Hair of Prescott; and two brothers, Robert Hair of Prescott and Cecil Hair of Moline, Ill.
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p. m. this Wednesday from the First Methodist church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Everett K. Burham. Burial was to be in Evergreen cemetery at Prescott, in charge of the Prescott Christian church. Military ritual at the graveside was to be by the Winterset post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
