Floriene D. Quinn, 88, a resident of Amber Ridge Assisting Living, Moline, formerly of Rock Island, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at her home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, where she was a member. Entombment is in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Visitation is 4 to 7 at Wheelan-Pressly Rock Island, p.m. Friday Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a Christian wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church, Alleman High School or Amber Ridge.

The former Floriene Jurgensen was born May 31, 1919, in Stuart, Iowa, a daughter of Herman and Dorothea Thomsen Jurgensen. She married John P. Quinn Nov. 25, 1940, in Stuart. He died Aug. 26, 2002.

Floriene was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Her husband John P. was the true love of her life, and they spent 61 wonderful years together. She had a genuine interest in people, and her love of conversation made her a friend to many. Babies and children held a special place in her heart. She was an excellent baker, a talented home decorator and a remarkably gifted writer of poetry.

Survivors include her children (and spouses), Jim Quinn, Davenport, Suzie (Harlan) King, Rock Island, and Debbie Quinn (Matt Kaplan), Libertyville, Ill.; grandchildren, Doug (Kris) King, David (Rachel) King, Ryan Quinn, Emma, Rachel and Sam Kaplan; great-grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Jonathan and Maddie King; and a sister, Audrey Paullin, Urbandale, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Hank Jurgensen; and a sister, Marianna Secrest.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the caring and compassionate staff of Amber Ridge Assisted Living.
