Thelma May Kirkman, 79, of Redfield, Iowa died Thursday, May 18, 2006 at her home.

Memorial services were held on Monday, May 22 at Redfield Christian Church. Disposition of the cremated remains will be private.

Thelma was born on April 20, 1927 to William W. and Fawn M. (Haines) Hulin in Webster City. She grew up in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School. Thelma lived most of her adult life in the Redfield and Dexter areas, where she was a homemaker. She was the wife of the late Gerald Kirkman.

Thelma was a member of Redfield Christian Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed flowers and being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; three brothers; two sisters and her parents.

Among survivors are her five children, J. Bryan Kirkman of Oklahoma, Michael Kirkman of Creston, Cindy Mains of Redfield, Jerry Kirkman of Des Moines and Candy Kirkman of Redfield; a sister, Jane Drake of Dexter; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ruppert Funeral Home in Stuart was in charge of arrangements.
