Nile A. Forcht, 72, of Stuart, died of cancer Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at USA Healthcare Center in Earlham. The body was cremated, and memorial services were held April 28 at Ruppert Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart. Burial of the cremains was at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter.

Nile Forcht was born in Menlo and had lived in Stuart since 1948. He was a retired technical mechanic with Morrison Chevrolet in Stuart and a member of Stuart Fire Department and Stuart Conservation Club. He had served as a Boy Scout leader and was a former Stuart city councilman. He enjoyed outdoor activities.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean.

He is survived by two sons, Steven and Marty, both of Stuart; two daughters, Nyla Maas of Menlo and Debra Forcht-Funaro of Des Moines; four brothers, Bernard of Fruitland Park, Fla., Richard of Cedar Rapids, James of Marion and Billy of Iowa; a sister, Juanita Gilman of Stuart; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
