A Des Moines plumber, Lester J. Duff, 47, of 1227 Eleventh st., was killed about 10 a. m. Wednesday when he was buried by a sewer cave-in, at the Fisher Governor Co. plant in Marshalltown.
Duff was working in a deep trench when the walls gave way. It took fellow workmen about 20 minutes to recover his body.
He had been an employee of the Allen Plumbing and Heating Co. of Des Moines for four years. The Des Moines firm is digging a sewer at the site of a new addition of the Fisher plant.
Duff is survived by his widow, Marietta; son, Ronnie, 18, with the navy in the Philippines; a daughter, Mary Jo, 8; his mother, Mrs. Ella Duff of Des Moines; three brothers, Ralph, Woodrow and Thomas, all of Des Moines, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rissman and Mrs. Ann French, both of Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Monday in St. Ambrose cathedral here for Lester J. Duff, 46, of 1127 Eleventh St., who was killed Wednesday in a cave-in at Marshalltown.
Burial will be at Glendale cemetery. A Rosary service will be held at 8 p. m. today in the Caldwell-Brien Funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Marietta; a son, Ronnie, in the navy; a daughter, Mary Jo; his mother, Mrs. Ellen Duff, Des Moines three brothers, Ralph, Woodrow and Thomas, and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rissman and Mrs. Ann French, all of Des Moines.
