Bertha May Smith, the daughter of Charles and Ella Wright Smith was born October 16, 1885 in Booneville, Iowa. She died April 7, 1978 at home near Booneville, Iowa at the age of 92 years.

She was united in marriage to Carver Smith. To this union three daughters and two sons were born.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, a daughter Cora Eichner, two brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors are: daughters, Mrs. Earl (Clara) Zuck of Van Meter, Mrs. Roscoe (Ida) Grose of Earlham, a son Harry of Booneville, three son-in-laws, Earl Zuck of Van Meter, Roscoe Grose of Earlham, Harry Eichner of Winterset; two brothers, Lawrence Smith of Davenport, Ralph Smith of Davenport, six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bertha Smith resided in Madison and Dallas counties all her life.
