Faye Irene Vandewater was born September 13, 1932 in Adair County, the daughter of Corvan and Lela (Foster) Vandewater.
Growing up and raising her family, she worked from the time she got up until she went to bed. It wasn’t easy back then carrying water for laundry, cooking and canning. She always had chickens and a big garden and canned everything. Although she didn’t have much, she had everything she needed, family.
Faye was a caregiver and worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. She loved helping people. Her home was always open for anyone who needed a bed and food. She worked helping people with chores, housekeeping, ironing, and taking care of the handicapped and elderly. She also worked as a waitress at the former Club Café.
Faye enjoyed time spent with family and friends and going to church. She loved music, having parties and going out to eat. She enjoyed going to garage sales and casinos. She also liked going to bingo later in life and quilting and sewing.
She is survived by her children, Nancy Allen, Danny (friend, Phyllis Jones) Lemon, Peggy McFee, Ricky (Deb) Lemon, and Cindy (Denny) Crase; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 7 great great-grandchildren.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sister, Mae; 6 siblings; 2 grandchildren, Todd and Chad; sons-in-law, Ed Allen and Rex McFee; and daughter-in-law, Jan Lemon.
