Oliver Frazier

Oliver Frazier passed away at the Azria Care Facility in Winterset, Iowa on Monday, November 25, 2019. He was 90 years old.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home – Winterset Chapel, 1823 N. John Wayne Drive, Winterset, Iowa. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa.

Oliver was born on December 1, 1928 at home on his family’s farm near Hartley, Iowa. He was the first born child of James Everett Frazier and Emma Axdahl Frazier. He learned to farm with horses and attended classes at a one room country school that had no running water or electricity. He often told stories of his chores at school, such as drawing water from the well and tending the coal stove they used for heat. He told stories about tilling the land with a sulky plow and a team of horses.
Oliver was drafted into the army in April, 1952. He served 2 years in the Army Corps of Engineers as a heavy equipment mechanic. Upon discharge from his military service, he returned to farming.

He married Betty Anne Stout in 1953, having two sons, Patrick Oliver Frazier and Michael James Frazier.

Oliver and Betty operated a farm near Winterset, Iowa for 50 years. Oliver has been recognized by the Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District for his dedicated use of conservation practices.

Oliver is survived by his son, Patrick; and he was preceded in death by his parents, James and Emma; brother, Orville; sister, Kathleen; wife, Betty; and son, Michael.
