Sister Mary Dorothy Kordick, of the Benedictine Convent near Clyde, Mo., peacefully went to her eternal home on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Aug. 5 at the convent, with her nephew, Fr. Adam Westphal, officiating. She is buried in the Calvary Cemetery on the convent grounds.

Frances Anna Kordick was born on Oct. 31, 1921, to Leo and Anna (Schreiner) Kordick at the family farm in Madison county. She and her family were members of St. Joseph Church. For eight years, she attended a one-room school in Scott Township and then graduated from Winterset High School. A few years later, she entered the Benedictine Convent of Perpetual Adoration, where she took the name “Sister Mary Dorothy Kordick OSB.” She devoted her life to serving Christ through the Benedictine order in Kansas City, Tucson and Clyde.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Anna Kordick; one sister, Evonne; and four brothers, Lawrence, John, Joe and Leo.

She is survived by one brother, Charles Kordick (Berta); and two sisters, Theresa O’Roake and Sr. Rose Kordick OSF; many nieces and nephews; and her Sisters in Christ in the Benedictine Convent.
