Carl Fredricks Commits Suicide

Carl Fredricks, 19 year old youth of Webster township, took his life late Saturday night by shooting himself with a revolver. He was found sitting in his car, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Herb Garland. He left a note, stating that he had been in poor health, and that he had suffered intensely, with a severe pain in his head.

The young man was a son of the late G. B. Fredricks. He leaves his mother, who was visiting her son, Paul, at Filmore, Indiana, two brothers, and six sisters, Paul of Filmore and George of Orient; Mrs. Mable McCorkle of Auburn, Indiana, Mrs. Nora Murphy of Dexter, Mrs. Clara Garland of Webster, Mrs. Jess Young of Orient, Mrs. Gertrude Dalen of Redfield, and Mrs. Maud Smith of St. Charles.

Rev. A. R. Weed conducted his funeral services, Tuesday, September 15th at 2:30 o’clock, at the Webster church and burial was in the Greenfield cemetery.

19-Year-Old Boy Ends Life Suffered Head Pains. No Inquest

Carl Frederick, nineteen-year-old boy, shot himself while seated in a Ford car on the Herbert Garland farm on No. 2 south of Middle River town. The .32 bullet entered his left temple and passed clear through his head. Death was instant.

The suicide occurred about 11 o’clock Saturday night while Mr. and Mrs. Garland were in Winterset. The boy left a note saying he had suffered great pain in his head and decided that he would end it. Coroner Leech was called but decided to hold no inquest. Frederick was a brother of Mrs. Garland and had been working as a farm hand.

OBITUARY - Carl Frederick

Carl Raymond Frederick, son of George B. and Minnie J. Frederick, was born July 7, 1912 and departed this life, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Herb Garland, September 12 , 1931 at the age of 19 years, 2 months and 5 days. He was proceded in death by an infant brother, Dallas, and his father who died December 31, 1929.

He is survived by his mother, his sisters, Mrs. Ed Murphy of Dexter, Mrs. Herb Garland of Winterset, Mrs. Will Young of Orient, Mrs. Calvin McCorkle, of Auburn, Indiana; Mrs. Glen Smith of St. Charles, Mrs. Melvin Dalen of Redfield and brothers Paul of Fillmore, Indiana and George of Orient.

Funeral services were held at the Webster church Tuesday, September 15 at 2:30 p. m., conducted by Rev. Weed, assisted by Rev. Rowe.
