ROY HERMON, 82, DIED HERE FRIDAY

Roy Hermon, a life-long resident of the Winterset community, died Friday, Aug. 16, at Memorial hospital here. He was 82 years of age.

Everett LeRoy Hermon was born Nov. 16, 1885 on a farm just south of Winterset, a son of Ezra A. and Emretta Beem Hermon. During his active life he engaged in farming south of Winterset, but since 1960 had lived in town.

He was married July 14, 1923 to Mary Opal Benge, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert Stroeber of West Des Moines; three sons, Forest Hermon of Centerville, R. Dale Hermon of Kansas City, Mo., and Robert Hermon of Tempe, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Elvert Hermon of Long Beach, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Holmes of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. Sula Poland of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Walter A. Samp. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
