Janice Dee Kayn, age 81, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Village, Prescott, Arizona, on Aug. 5, 2018. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Jan graduated Phi Beta Kappa from University of Michigan in 1959 with a degree in physical therapy. In years following, she achieved certifications in bio-feedback, behavioral medicine and neuro-rehab therapies.
She practiced her profession for over 50 years in various California and Arizona facilities serving in director, supervisor and staff positions.
Jan is survived by her husband of 33 years, Thomas; son, Scott Kaczorowski of Colorado; daughter, Lynn Rigler and grandsons, Andrew and Zachary of Texas; sister/cousin, Sherry Stubblefield of California; and other cherished family members.
Jan’s volunteer services included resident visits at Samaritan Village; home elderly shut-ins; Prescott People Who Care; working with her church’s Care Givers group and using her professional skills to do home-safety assessments for rehabilitation patients.
Jan embraced the beliefs, promises and eternal hope of her Biblical-Christian faith in Jesus Christ, whom she professed as Lord and Savior. She participated in many faith-based groups, Bible studies and prayer groups. As a member of Bridges for Peace, she supported efforts to build relationships between Christians and Jews in Israel and around the world.
Jan is truly remembered for her kind, soft-spoken and gentle manner. She was a gifted listener and shared her wisdom with others in a calm and loving way. Janice Dee Kayn was a loving wife, mother and faithful friend and we acknowledge her with gratitude and affection.
Though we all will truly miss her, we are happy for her . . .the battle is over, her victory is won.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at First Church of the Nazarene, 2110 Willow Creek Rd., Prescott.
In lieu of flowers, the family is grateful for memorial donations made in support of the resident activities department at Prescott Samaritan Village, 1030 Scott Dr., Prescott, 86301 (side mark: J. Kayn memorial).
Arrangements entrusted to Ruffner-Wakelin Funeral Homes and Crematory.
