OHIO MAN HELD ON SERIOUS CHARGES

A. M. Bristoll Arrested Here for Elopement With Mrs. C. D. Kimmel

The “eternal triangle” so often discovered, came to light in Winterset on Monday with the arrest of M. M. Lewis, in reality, Acel M. Bristoll of Wharton, Ohio. The triangle was doubled by the presence of the two small children of Mrs. Lewis, formerly Mrs. Clarence D. Kimmel of Wharton, and the arrival of her father, Grant Johnson of Carey, Ohio. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Kimmel ended nine months’ search for Mrs. Kimmel when they arrived in Winterset, via Peru, on Monday at 2:30 a.m. Mr. Johnson explained his errand briefly to Nigh Policeman R. L. Campbell, who made the arrest. Lewis or Bristoll is in jail in Winterset, and the other five persons involved left for Ohio on the afternoon train.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, as they were known here, arrived in Winterset on Jan. 14th, bringing seven year old
“Billy” and five year old “Barbara.” They secured rooms at the home of Mrs. W. A. Chace, remaining there from Jan. 18th until June 18th, when they moved into rooms in the H. Z. Cross home, while the Cross family were motoring in the west for several weeks. Here they lived until last Thursday, when they moved to the Holloway property, across from M. Young’s place of business. A daughter, Josephine, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lewis on Sept. 1st, but was born dead.

The rest of the article has no genealogical information.

Transcriber’s note: Cemetery records indicate Josephine Lewis is buried in the Winterset cemetery in Potter’s Field in an unmarked grave.
