Margaret J. Stanford, 92, of Winterset died Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

A visitation will be held at Ochiltree Funeral Service from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, January 27 with family present to receive friends during this time. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 28 at the Peru United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Peru Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Calvary Baptist Church in DeSoto.

Margaret Jean Howell was born August 21, 1926 in Patterson, Iowa; the daughter of Carol and Maude (Lamb) Howell. She attended school in Patterson and graduated from Truro High School in 1946. She was married to Robert Dillinger on February 16, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1977. Her marriage to Willard Stanford took place on June 16, 1984 in Adel, Iowa.

She was a dedicated housewife for many years and worked for AMF Western Tool for 22 years. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in DeSoto and a member of the Winterset V.F.W. Auxiliary. Margaret also enjoyed camping, crocheting, and doing word find puzzles. All this said, she was devoted to her family and loved any time spent with them.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Willard Stanford of Winterset; children, Russell (Janet) Dillinger of Peru, Robert (Diane) Dillinger of Winterset, Stephen (Deb) Dillinger of Earlham, Beverly Dillinger of Winterset, Roger (Annie) Dillinger of Earlham, Becky (Don) Johnston of Osceola, Pattie (Tim) John of Des Moines, and Dale (Susan) Stanford of CA; many grandchildren; a sister, Jeri Lee and a brother, Morris Howell both of Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Dillinger; sons, Ronald and Kenneth Dillinger; a sister, Ethel (Dean) Strable (Charles) Lamb, two brothers, Doyle (Ernestine) Howell and Delbert (Beulah) Howell; a sister-in-law, Barbara Howell; and a brother-in-law, Charles Lee.
