Peggy Nicholls, 88, of Winterset formerly of Afton, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Pastor Joel Sutton will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Open visitation with family receiving friends will be from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. service time Tuesday at Powers Funeral Home in Afton. Memorials may be made to Afton United Methodist Church.

Peggy Joyce Nicholls was born April 24, 1930 in Indianola, Iowa to Maude Ila (Maxwell) and Arch Nicholls. Peggy moved with her parents to Union county near Afton in 1942, where she attended East Union Schools. For a short time Peggy worked for Earl May Nursery and Seed Company in Shenandoah.

After returning to the Afton area she cleaned homes in the Afton area. Peggy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Afton, a 50 year member of the Rebekah Lodge #39, where she achieved many different honors both on the local and the state level.

Peggy is survived by several cousins and a host of friends. Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and sister Helen (husband Joe) McGrath and special friend Bernard Rickets.
