Martha Webb, daughter of Edwin and Malinda Cox Marston was born September 26, 1916 on the family farm north of Dexter, Iowa. She passed away Saturday June 1, 1996 at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines with her daughter and son present.

Other than a short period of time in 1929 when she moved to Illinois with her family Martha spent her entire life in the Dexter area, living in the same house from 1938 until the time of her death. Martha graduated from Earlham High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Lewis Elmer Webb on November 24, 1936 at Adel, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Janet and Jerry.

Martha spent a good deal of time working at the hamburger stand which they owned in the 1940’s. Martha and Lewie also owned and operated the Webb Café from 1964 until 1972. Martha was an employee of the Kuhn Funeral Home up until her illness began in January 1996. She answered phones and received guests and worked services at the funeral home since 1976. Martha was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church as well as the United Methodist Women of which she was the secretary for several years. She was also a member of the Dizzy Dozen Club.

Martha leaves the following family to celebrate her life: daughter Janet Webb of Flower Mound, Texas, son Jerry Web and wife Carol of Cordova, Illinois, sister Velma Babcock of Oak Lawn, Illinois, granddaughter Kimberly Costanza and husband Bill of Lindale, Texas, and grandsons Michael and Matthew Webb of Cordova, Illinois, many nieces and nephews.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother Everett Marston, sisters Pearl Secrest, Mable Knox and Dortha Findlay; and a granddaughter Anna Webb.

Interment in Dexter cemetery.
