Joan Anderson

Waukee - Joan Anderson, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Legacy Pointe Memory Care in Waukee, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at McLaren's Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at McLaren's Funeral Chapel, 801 - 19th Street in West Des Moines with entombment at Resthaven Cemetery.

Joan was born on Sunday, January 04, 1931 in Graham, MO to Harry and Anice Haun. She graduated from Winterset High School, and then went on to attend Park College in Parkville, MO and then SWCC in Creston, IA. Joan retired from Northwestern Bell. She followed her children and grandchildren in their sports and activities, as she was their biggest fan. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandma and cherished nothing more than spending time with her family. Joan was a strong woman and a wonderful role model for her family.

Joan is survived by her children, Steve Anderson (Cindy) of Phoenix, AZ, Cindy Gilcrest of Encinitas, CA, Cathy Allen (Bud) of Winterset, IA, Doug Niblo of Waukee, IA, Marty Niblo (Jodi) of Tuscon, AZ and Jennifer Washington (Mark) of Nampa, ID; 18 grandchildren, Stefanie Veljkovic (Brian) of St. Louis, MO, Peter and Joseph Gilcrest of Encinitas, CA, Chad Smith (Erinn) of Winterset, IA, Wesley Smith (Amber) of Ankeny, IA, Robyn Jennett (Cole) of Madrid, IA, Jamie Brobst (Shawn) of Mt. Ayr, IA, Erin Wampler (Dean) of Lawrence, KS, Jeff Niblo (Ana) of Oxnard, CA, Cade Niblo of Ames, IA, Brian Niblo of Berlin, Germany, Jaime Niblo (Nolan) of West Des Moines, IA, Mollie Niblo of Tucson, AZ, Tyler Farrell of Edmond, OK, Grant Farrell of Denver, CO, Nathan Wederquist (Annette) of Littleton, CO, Justin Wederquist of Iowa, Whitney Peyton (Chris) of Van Meter, IA; 21 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Jim Haun of Elkhart, IA, and Betty Ketchum of Tulsa, OK.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Andy; brother, Harry Haun; sister, Sue Tucker; parents; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Niblo.
