Dale W. Iiams, 89, longtime Clarke County farmer, died Aug. 1 of congestive heart failure at his home in Murray. Funeral services were held Aug. 4, at the Murray Church of Christ with burial in the Union Cemetery at Murray. Stroud-Lindsay-Powers Funeral Home of Afton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Iiams, the son of Arthur and Florence Kirk Iiams was born July 18, 1906, in Madison County and attended rural schools there.
He married Della Leo Bloomquist on June 2, 1928, at Winterset. Mr. Iiams farmed in Clarke County until 1991 when he retired in Murray.
Mr. Iiams was a member of the Madison Church at Lorimor.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Everett, Boyd, Nathan and infant brother, Loren; four sisters, Vella Pettit, Thelma Thurman, Velma Gibbons and Ethel Cook.
Mr. Iiams is survived by one son, Wilbur “Junior” Beardsley and his wife, Alice Beardsley of Des Moines; two daughters, Ramona Leeper and her husband, Richard Leeper, of Carlisle and Naomi Young and her husband, Jerry Young, of Des Moines; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
