Caren Dicken, 63, of Ankeny, Iowa, passed away in her home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. While we feel sadness, we are forever grateful to have her spirit continue on in our hearts and thoughts.
Caren was born March 4, 1953, in Winterset, Iowa, to Vernie and Lorene (Saxton) Corsbie. She grew up in Loirmor, IA, graduating from East Union community School. Caren attended Iowa State University and attained her Bachelor’s Degree in botany. Over the years she taught all science and computer classes teaching at Diagonal, Earlham, East Union, Waukee, and Clarksville school districts. Caren was united in marriage to Donovan Dicken on Dec. 29, 2007, with the whole family in attendance in Las Vegas.
Caren loved spending time with her family whether at home or traveling together to many places throughout the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Caren also loved and was very talented at landscaping, gardening and home remodeling. In her later years, she researched, wrote and published three incredible family history books.
Caren is survived by her husband, Don; daughters; Lesley (David) Gustafson of Ankeny, Cheryl (Juan) Moya of West Des Moines, and son Andy (Natalie) McNaught of Clive. She also will be forever remembered by her three grandchildren: Lauren and Mason Gustafson and Conner Moya; brother, John (Barb) Corsbie and a sister Linda Corsbie. We love you Caren/Ama/Grandma/Mom!
A celebration of life will be held at Caren’s home in he beautiful gardens on Monday, May 9, at 11 a.m.
