He attended Penn #3 country school and graduated from the Dexter High School. Following graduation he farmed with his father. He was drafted into the Army during World War II. He married Della Eickelberg and they had three daughters before Della died. He married Karen Minor and they had two sons. The marriage ended. He next married Mary Helen Baker Lovely. He would say he married a lovely widow and adopted her six lovely children.
He had a large and small animal practice for 20 years in Stuart. “Doc” moved to Denison and worked for the USDA as a veterinarian meat inspector until he retired. He returned to Stuart in 1991.
Dale loved his Lord and Savior as well as his church. He was active in the church all of his life. He had taught Sunday School and held various offices. He greatly enjoyed Bible study and participated in three classes weekly.
During his life he was on the Guthrie County School Board in the 60’s. He was a member of the Stuart Planning and Zoning Board in the 90’s and 2000’s. He was an adjutant for the American Legion Post 146 for a few years. He was a substitute card player for various groups through his church. The former farmer in “Doc” enjoyed gardening and yard work. He was looking forward to digging his sweet potato crop.
Dale was proud of his large family.
