Missing woman, 46, found dead

A missing woman was found dead Tuesday morning a short distance from her home in rural Peru.

Cynthia Wilkinson, 46, was last seen at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and reported missing around 2 p.m. when she didn’t return home. Wilkinson was found in a wooded area about 250 yards from her home.

The Madison County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating the cause of death. The State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny will conduct an autopsy.

Officials are investigating the incident but no foul play is suspected.
