REBECCA IRVIN, LONG RESIDENT OF IOWA, DEAD

Rebecca A. Irvin, the last member of a pioneer Iowa family, died Saturday at the home of her son. J. W. Irvin, after a lingering illness.

Born in Putnam county, Indiana, Jan. 20, 1847, she was brought to Iowa when 6 years old by her father, John Landers, following the death of her mother. The family, which consisted of eight children and the father, settled in Madison county.

After marrying A. M. Irvin, a civil war veteran, Mrs. Irvin resided in Winterset for thirty years before coming to Des Moines twenty years ago. Her husband died five years after they came here, and she has since made her home with her son.

Besides J, W. Irvin, she is survived by two sons, Frank of Kansas City and Charley of Des Moines, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
