Judith Ann Hakes passed away Sunday at Dallas County Hospital from complications of Huntington’s Disease. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Judith was born November 21, 1936 in La Plata, Missouri. Judy and her family moved to Waukee, where she attended school, and graduated from De Soto High School in 1954. She married Edwin E. Hakes on January 29, 1955, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in January of this year. Judy worked as a secretary to the principal at Dallas Center-Grimes Schools for 18 years.

Judith is survived by her husband, Ed; three children, Holly, Valerie and Jeff; two brothers, Robert and Bill; and a cousin, Roland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Edna Wright; and sisters Barb, Hattie, Ida and Marge.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Huntington’s Disease Society.
