He came to Iowa in 1866, locating in Cedar county, and there he was united in marriage to Fredrica Metzger in 1868. He moved to this community in the fall of 1875, where he made a host of friends.
He later removed to Green county settling in Grand Junction, and there met with the loss of his companion, who passed away January 1, 1892. To them were born eight children, namely: Mrs. Ella Shockley of Walnut Grove, Minn.; Mrs. Anna Joice of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Viola Kennedy of Columbus, Ohio; Harry and Edward Morgan of Jamaica, Iowa, who are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving father, Laura, Della and Charles, having preceded him in death.
