With sorrow we record the death of Mrs. J. J. Lynch, which occurred at her residence, 2714 Ingersoll Ave., Des Moines, Monday, March 12th, following a serious heart illness of many years’ standing. Mr. Lynch moved his family to Des Moines from Laurens, Iowa, two years ago, hoping that the life of his beloved wife might be prolonged by the expert medical attention affected by the city.
Born October 17, 1867, Norah V. Ryan was brought up in the parish of St. Patrick’s Bevington. She was educated at Mt. St. Scholastica’s Academy, Atchison, Kansas where she graduated in Jun 1883. She was united in holy marriage to J. J. Lynch at St. Patrick’s church, Bevington. Mr. Lynch was engaged in business the greater part of their married life at Laurens, Iowa.
Three sons, Dr. James Lynch of Boston, Adrian Lynch of the Mutual Benefit Insurance Co. of N. J., Vernon Lynch, attorney, and one daughter, Cecelia, were born of this happy union, and all live to mourn the loss of a devoted mother.
Quietly and unobtrusively Mrs. Lynch spent her life in exemplifying the teachings of her faith, and in deep appreciation of good wherever she found it. Her death is regretted by the wide circle of friends who found in he a candor and sympathy that always consoled and cheered.
The funeral took place on Thursday, May 15th, in the Glendale Catholic Cemetery after a Requium Mass at St. Augustine’s celebrated by the pastor, Father Noonan. The pall bearers were J. J. Hughes, Judge Guthrie, Senator F. C. Gilchrist, Frank Comfort, P. O’Grady, Jno. Haleran, E. A. Slininger.
