Esther Lucy White was born at North Prairie in Bureau county, Ill., April 8, 1886 and her early childhood spent there attending the Princeton high school from which she graduated with high honors in 1904. Entering Northwestern university, she continued her study and was graduated in the class of 1909 with high honors, receiving her degree from the university in 1910. The following years were spent in teaching in Fort Worth and Meriden, Texas and in Yankton, college, Yankton, S. D. On Dec 2nd 1916 she was married to Benjamin H. Pratt of Tamales, Calif., at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George M. White in Webster township, Rev. E. L. Spiller officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Pratt went to Tamales, Calif., where she resided until her death, June 28, 1917. Uniting with the church as a child, she was always active in church work wherever she lived or taught. The remains were taken to Princeton, Ill., and the funeral services were held at the old family home at North Prairie, July 4th, Rev. E. L. Spiller conducting the services.

Those attending the funeral from here were: Mrs. Geo. Lorenz, G. M. White, Miss Jennie White, Rev. E. L. Spiller. Mrs. White remained in California with the baby. Mr. Pratt from California. The sincere sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved family in their hour of suffering and loss.
