Norwin Harold Cummings, 80, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 24 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. Burial will follow the service at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel.
Norwin was born November 13, 1937 in Stuart, Iowa to Harold and Anna Cummings. He graduated from Stuart High School and served in the Navy from 1956 to 1962. Norwin married Joyce “Marlene” Cummings on June 24, 1962. He farmed, raised hogs and was a home builder.
He loved to camp, grill, play croquet, take care of the pool and most of all spend time with his famiy.
Norwin is survived by his wife, Marlene; sons, Steve (Laura) Cummings, Chris (Emily) Cummings and Russell Cummings; daughter, Shannon (Neil) Van Otterloo; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and sister, Linda Strauser.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Anna Cummings, grandson, Michael Cummings; brothers, Marvin Cummings and Vernon Cummings.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
