Murray Lee Banks

Murray Lee Banks, age 93, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 13, 2018 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

Murray was born December 13, 1924 in Winterset, Iowa to the late Lee and Mildred (Likens) Banks. He graduated from Winterset High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Murray was a splicer for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 30 years retiring in 1981. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.

In addition to his parents, Murray was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Banks in 1994 and his brother, Joe Banks.

Murray is survived by four daughters, Jean Ann Banks of LaVista, Nebraska, Nancy (Chuck) Sharp, Vickie Banks, Kristi Banks all of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Stephanie, Danny, Michelle, Kaila, Chris and Kaitlyn, 12 great grandchildren and canine companion, Tippi.
