Obituary:

Another of earth’s best and purest of women has gone to rest. Mrs. Orinda Landis died February 16, 1894, at her residence in Winterset. She came to Madison county in 1852, and settled on a farm near Peru, where her husband and she lived until 1873, when they moved to Winterset. She was born in Holmes county, Ohio, in 1819 and was married in 1836. She was converted in early life, and lived a consistent Christian and died triumphant in the faith. She was the mother of four children, Sarah, William B. I. N., and A. J., two of whom, A. J. and W. B. and husband, have passed on before. Two others, Sarah Dorrell and I. N. Landis, live in Winterset.
