Friday, February 09, 1894Charles G. Smith, of Webster township, died Tuesday evening after a long and gradually increasing sickness, being a victim of that terrible disease, consumption. Mr. Smith was born in that township, being a son of Mr. And Mrs. H. C, Smith. Some years ago he married Amelia Wintermantle, of Jackson township, who while yet young, is left in widowhood.

Friday, February 16, 1894Obituary: Charles G. Smith was born July 19th, 1859, and died at his home in Madison county, Iowa, February 6th, 1894. He was married to Amelia Wintermantle June 3, 1891.
He leaves his beloved wife to mourn his departure, as well as hosts of friends who know him as a true friend and kind neighbor. Among his last words he said was trusting his Savior, and a request to sing, which was granted as well as sad hearts could. The funeral services were held at the church and were conducted by the Rev. Yerger of Des Moines.

Page 5, Column 1C. G. Smith, a young man about thirty-five years old died at his home near the Maple Grove church of pneumonia.
He was the son of H. Smith, one of the county's oldest citizens. The young man had been sick for the past year and had been unable to work.
The funeral occurred Thursday noon at the Maple Grove Evangelical church and the body was interred in the Wintermantle cemetery.
