Gary Allen Snyder was born September 1, 1950 in Des Moines, Iowa to Robert and Marjorie Fox Snyder.
The family moved to a farm south of Truro in 1955. After Gary graduated from Interstate 35 in 1968 he worked at Meredith’s in Des Moines until May, 1973, he attended Refrigeration and Air Conditioning school in Denver, Colorado. He worked in Denver until 1976 when he moved to Pampa, Texas and started his business—Gray’s Commercial Refrigeration, Inc. In 1982 he moved his business to Anadarko, Oklahoma.
Gary was married to Kathy Luckenbill on April 9, 1971 and had one son, Ryan Allen and one daughter, Nykki Lynn.
Gary was fatally injured early Friday morning, September 25, 1987 when his van collided with a train.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lela and Raymond Snyder and Anna and Lyal Fox.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; son, Ryan; daughter, Nykki; his parents, Robert and Marjorie Fox Snyder of Truro; his brothers, Gail of Blair, Nebraska, Greg of Fort Collins, Colorado and wife, Tern and sons, Mike and Chad, Gene of Truro and wife, Patty and children, Timothy, Courtney and Jeffrey; and numerous relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 30 at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church at Truro, Iowa with burial in the Fields Cemetery in Clarke County, Iowa. The Rev. Anna Louise Weisenfluh of Truro officiated at the services.
