Creston

Mack Oglesbee, 78, of Creston, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston.

Celebration of life services were 3 p.m. Sunday, May 29, at Murray Baptist Church in Murray. The Rev. Matthew Novonty officiated. Burial was in Murray Cemetery in Murray. Visitation with family present was from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Memorials can be given to Murray Baptist Church or Gideon’s International. Mack L. Oglesbee, son of Paul and Marjorie Neva (Huss) Oglesbee, was born April 24, 1938, in Winterset. He was educated in the Martensdale Community School system. He also attended Tabernacle Bible College in Greenville, South Carolina. Mack served as a missionary to the Catawba Indians in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

On Aug. 21, 1987, Mack married Frances Sue (Allen) Turner Seymour in Truro. They lived in Murray for a year, before moving to a farm in Mercer, Missouri, for 15 years. Later he moved to Ottumwa for seven years. He worked with Meredith Printing Company for 10 years, but also was involved in mission work as well as farming. After retiring in 2009, they moved to Creston.

Mack attended First Baptist Church in Creston, and while in Ottumwa, he attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was formerly a member of the Gideons International, serving as a camp chaplain.

Mack is survived by his wife Sue Oglesbee of Murray; children, Lonnie, Debbie, Tammy (Jeffrey) Davidson, Paul, James, Daniel, Jeana, Joshua and Jeremiah, Renda (Steve) Baker, Russ (Julie) Turner, Rashawn Turner and Randy (Sue) Turner; brother Wayne Oglesbee; sisters Margaret Libby and Madge (Dave) Meister; 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mack was preceded by his parents; sister Eleanor Carpenter; infant sister Norma Pauline Oglesbee and infant great-grandchildren, Paul Oglesbee and Kale Oswald.
