Edward Hershal Reed, 74, was found dead yesterday afternoon in the garage of his home at 421 Oak street by neighbors and members of the family. Death was attributed by investigating city police to a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head.
The elder Reed had been ill for a considerable period, it was stated, and for the past few weeks had hardly been able to walk without assistance. A .38 caliber revolver was found near the body.
Survivors include his wife, Frances, of the home address, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. June Hume, who is visiting at the home from San Francisco. Funeral arrangements in charge of Perl Funeral home are pending.
