John Jensen

John Jensen, 90, peacefully passed away on April 28, 2018 at his home in De Soto. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday May 1 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - McCalley Chapel in Adel. Funeral services will be 11:30 am, Wednesday, May 2 at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

John was born on September 18, 1927 in Winterset, Iowa to Herman and Nora (Armstrong) Jensen. He served in the Navy and is a WWII Veteran. John enjoyed wood working, telling jokes and stories, fishing and being with family and friends. His favorite pastime was going to coffee at Butch’s.

John is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mildred (Millie) Kaldenberg Jensen; children, Julie (Jeff) Carroll and Randall (Debbie) Jensen; grandchildren, Jesse (Sheliah) Deardorff, Jennifer (Ian) Carle, Jessica (Russell) Downey and Courtney (Alex) Thomas; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Virginia Alberts. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Margaret Bell, Ruby Bennett, Robert Jensen and Maxine Gillihan.

Memorial contributions may be given to the De Soto Library, De Soto United Methodist Church and Van Meter American Legion Post 403.
