November 20, 1937 - April 11, 2018

Evelyn Deets, 80, of Winterset, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at West Bridge Care and Rehab in Winterset.

A visitation will be held from noon to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 14, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, where family will be present to receive friends during this time. Funeral services will follow the visitation begin at 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.

Evelyn Rosella Deets, daughter of Noah and Hazel (Husted) Oglesbee, was born November 20, 1937, in Madison County, Iowa.   Evelyn married Charles Deets Sr., on July 7, 1958, and to this union seven children were born. Charles died on November 21, 2012.

Evelyn worked at Tim’s Club Café in Winterset.  She became a CNA and worked for the Madison County Memorial Hospital and Madison County Home Healthcare. 

Evelyn enjoyed collecting cow figurines and memorabilia.  She liked listening to music and traveling; visiting places such as, Branson, Germany, Hawaii (Dream Vacation), California and Georgia with Branson being her favorite.  Evelyn was a very caring person who had a big heart. She enjoyed helping others and her door was always open for those in need. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who cherished nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. 

She is survived by her children, Diane (Howard) Robinson of Decatur, GA, Linda (Gary) Howell of Des Moines, Sandra (Marty) Kephart of Chariton, Charles Deets Jr. of Glenwood, Chris Deets (Amy Maxfield) of Melcher-Dallas, Gary (Traci) Deets of Manilla; siblings, Nola (Bill) Gilmore of Albuquerque, NM, Don (Joyce) Oglesbee of Frankton, IN; 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren, extended family and a host of friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Noah Oglesbee and Hazel Oglesbee-Deets; husband, Charles Deets Sr., a son, Robert Deets; and a sister, Lois Klingbeil.
