Page 5, Column 4Cassius Milton, son of Steven and Minerva Loy, was born Sept. 26, 1860 in Wapello county, Iowa, and passed away at Osceola, Iowa, Aug. 9, 1947. He was eighty-six years, ten months and 13 days of age.
In 1885 he was united in marriage with Lula Maude Ives. To this union were born ten children, five sons and five daughters.
After their marriage they lived for nine years in Madison county, then moved to a farm near Lorimor, Iowa, where they lived until the passing of his wife in 1936. Since that time he has made his home with his children.
He confessed faith in Christ when just a young man and united with the Methodist church; and loved and worshipped his Master until He called him home. He had a strong faith in God, and possessed a rare sense of humor. He took things pretty much as they came. He was a devoted husband and father, and loved his grandchildren dearly. Even in the last hour he inquired of his daughters who were with him if they were all right. He appreciated everything that was done for him so much. He made friends and kept them.
Those who survive him are the five sons, Claude E. and Carl A. both of Lorimor, Glen A. of Olathe, Kans., Guy M. and Clarence, both of Des Moines, Iowa. The five daughters, Mrs. Maude Tuttle of Osceola, Mrs. Grace Yount, of Thayer, Mrs. Blanch Johnson of Macksburg, Mrs. Bessie Frank of Truro and Mrs. Mildred Means of Mingo, Iowa. There are twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one brother, George A. Loy of Lorimor, and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Bonney of Ottumwa, Iowa. There are other relatives and many friends.
The funeral services were conducted from the Murray Methodist church, Monday afternoon at three o’clock, by Rev. R. Underwood, pastor. The music was by a quartet: Everett Ogden, Ray Welker, W. T. Woods, and Gaylord Dick, accompanied by Mrs. C. W. Arnold. They sang “Ivory Palaces,” “No Disappointment in Heaven,” and “No Night There.” The pallbearers were the grandsons and the granddaughters were honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the Murray cemetery under the direction of the Watts Funeral Service of Murray, Iowa.
