August 29, 1938 - March 24, 2018

Sherry Tish, 79, of Winterset died Saturday, March 22, 2018, at Westview Care Center in Indianola.

A visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, at Ochiltree Funeral Service where family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 29, at Ochiltree’s with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.

Sherry Jean Tish, the daughter of Loren and Velma (Berch) Goodwin was born August 29, 1938, in Earlham, Iowa. She was a 1956 graduate of Carlisle High School and went on to attend Simpson College in Indianola; where she received her 2 year teaching certificate. Her marriage to Wesley P. Tish took place on July 26, 1959, at the Methodist Church in Indianola.

Sherry taught school for a couple years before becoming a stay at home mother so she could raise her children. Once her kids were in school, Sherry worked outside the home most recently at at the Madison County Memorial Hospital and later at the Bridge in Winterset. She was also a good partner to Wesley on the farm.

Sherry was not one to join organizations or groups but rather dedicated her time to being with family. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she enjoyed preparing stockings for her whole family. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading and doing any kind of puzzles like cross word, word search or Sudoku.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wesley Tish of Winterset, her children, Michell (Dale) Cleghorn of Winterset, Elizabeth (Michael) Valentine of Janesville, WI, Wesley Jr. (Michelle) Tish of Carlisle, Michael (Michelle) Tish of Springfield, Va, a sister, Jane (Bill) Riehl of Tinton Falls, NJ; seven grandchildren, Gregory (Debra) Cleghorn, Matthew Cleghorn, Michael Valentine, Rachel (Jorgen) Rose, Margaret Tish, Briceson Tish, Brandi Tish (Louis Rojas) and six great grandchildren, Dana, Lawson, Sierra and Aubrey Cleghorn and Jordan and Jason Rojas.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Loren Goodwin, and an infant sister, Dixie Goodwin.
