MILDRED HALLECK SKILBRED

WEBSTER CITY – Mildred Halleck Skilbred, 76, of Webster City, died Oct. 6 at her home in Visalia, Calif.

Services will be 1:30 Tuesday at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, with Richard Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery, Webster City, and visitation will be after 5 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Halleck, Marshalltown, and Richard, Fresno, Calif.; a daughter, Bette Monroy, Visalia, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Delores Bauman, Eagle Grove, and Barbara Alfseike, Jewell; 5 grandchildren and a step granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Dorothy Loring Berry.

Mildred L. Brown was born Dec. 1, 1917 in Winterset. She moved with her parents to Ankeny and then to Webster City in 1930. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1935. In 1939 she married Lawrence (Pat) Halleck in Fayette. The couple resided in Eldora, Webster City, Grand Junction, Perry and Oelwein. Her husband died in 1970, and she returned to Webster City in 1971 and was employed in restaurant management. She married Raymond O. Skilbred in 1971 in Des Moines, and the couple farmed south of Blairsburg, spending their winters in Arizona. Raymond died in 1991, and Mildred continued to live in Arizona until 1993 when she moved to her daughter’s home in California.

Mildred was a member of the New Testament Church of Christ.
