Services for David G. Martin,76, who passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2018 will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 10 at the Martensdale Community Church, Martensdale, IA with burial following in the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, IA. The visitation will be held 9 to 10:15 a.m. prior to services at the church.

Daivd is survived by his wife, Viola; children, Rick Martin, Russell Martin, Randall Martin, Ronda (Bradley) Houts; grandchildren, Destiny, Colton, Eric, Jazmine Martin, Ethan, Ella, Elena Houts; great-grandchildren, Aurelia Bailey-Martin, Damien Bailey, Keaton Reed; brother, Richard Martin; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Frances Martin; brother, Philip Martin.

David was born on May 14, 1941 in St. Charles, IA, the son of Gordon and Frances Martin. He grew up on a farm outside of St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1959. After some college, he became an appliance and refrigeration repair man for O’Callaghans for many years. He retired from Westside Parts and Service.

In June of 1963, he married his one and only love, Viola. God blessed them with four children. He enjoyed his family and would attend events of his children and grand children as he loved seeing them involved in their different activities.

David followed Christ and demonstrated his faith in many different ways. His daily walk with God, his generous heart, and his involvement in church. He was a member and elder of Martensdale Community Church. In younger years, he was often found in the sound room running the audio and making copies of tapes of the services. If the church was having a service or activity, he was there with his family in tow.

David was a ham radio operator, he enjoyed spending many hours building and contacting other ham operators across the country. David loved to go camping, he would often enjoy camping trips with his family and friends. David loved his family and they will miss him terribly, but they know they will see him again in heaven.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Martensdale Community Church.
