JOHN DEVINE
Tucson, Ariz.

John M. Devine, 81, of Tucson, Ariz., died Wednesday at St. Mary’s Hospital there of complication of surgery. The body was cremated, and private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Mr. Devine was born in Livermore and had lived in Winterset, Patterson and Boone before moving to Tucson nine years ago. He was the retired owner and operator of a trucking business and a veteran of World War II, during which he had received a Purple Heart. He enjoyed watching sports.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; three sons, John T. and Tom, both of Tucson, and Jim of Omaha; a daughter, Peggy Devine of Urbandale; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

DEVINE, John M., 81, passed away on April 24, 2002 following emergency surgery for peritonitis. He is survived by his loving wife and companion of 56 years, Doris; their 4 children, John T. and Tom of Tucson, Jim of Omaha, NE, and Peggy of Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by a brother, Robert of Omaha, NE.

John was an owner/operator of a trucking business in Winterset, Iowa for 30 years before retiring to Tucson. As a WWII veteran, he was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart.

John was an avid sports fan all his life, and also enjoyed playing pool. A family man, his favorite activity was spending time with family and friends, and he will be missed very much by them. A private service is being planned and his earthly remains will be cremated at a later date.
