Mr. Robert Liggitt died at his home in Osceola December 27th, aged seventy-two years, six months and nineteen days. He had been in failing health for nearly four years.

The funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of sympathizing friends. Rev. T. J. Wright delivered the sermon, after which interment took place in Maple Hill cemetery.

Mr. Liggitt was born in Washington county, Pa., October 8, 1830. He moved to Belmont, Ohio, with his brother Thomas in 1844. In 1854 he was married to Cynthia A. Ruley and in same year moved to Madison county, Iowa.

He enlisted in the 26th Missouri regiment in 1862 and served his country faithfully for three years. At the close of the war he settled on a farm northeast of Osceola and has since remained a resident of this county.

His wife and six children, namely Slayton, Robert D., Harvey C., Jessie V., Clarence B. and Walter C., survive and mourn the loss of a loving husband and father. One brother, Thomas of Dwight, Illinois, also survives.

Mr. Liggitt was a member of the G.A.R. post and was buried under the ritualistic ceremonies of that order. He was an honorable, worthy citizen. The three score and ten years of his life was well spent and he goes to his grave honored and esteemed by all his acquaintances.
