Denis Jerry Glasscock – December 9, 2017

Denis Jerry Glasscock was born on October 14, 1943, in Winterset, Iowa. He died on December 9, 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Glasscock and his two daughters, Kari Ann Gunter, and Jana Linn Brewer. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Ayoub and Larry "Butch" Glasscock, along with Brother-in-law, Moe Ayoub, and Sister-in-law, Becky Glasscock. Denis has eight grandchildren: Jaden Gunter, Grace Brewer, Sarah Brewer, Ethan Gunter, Lucy Brewer, Colton Gunter, Daniel Brewer, and Nathan Brewer.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa to his two daughters and eight grandchildren. He was a sincere, caring man, helping wherever he saw need.

At the age of 10, Denis was hospitalized with Polio. This disease greatly weakened the muscles in his right arm and lung. Denis had to relearn how to write with his left hand because of the effects of the polio.

Denis graduated from college in 1969, from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. He went on from there to work at Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island, Nebraska, where he met his bride, Rhonda Glasscock, while on a church outing. They married and then moved to Amarillo, Texas, where Denis worked the remainder of his career at Pantex Plant.

Denis enjoyed going on many adventures with his family, including camping and boating on the lake with his wife and two daughters. Denis also enjoyed spending time wood working, specifically making dressers that are still used by the family. He was also always looking for ways to “rig” things for himself, so that he could still accomplish tasks with limited mobility in his right arm.
