Page 3, Column 1Dora Geneve Denly, 88, of Osceola died Aug. 20, 2010, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 26 at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St. She was cremated and burial of her cremains will be in the Union Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Osceola Public Library.
Dora Geneve Denly, daughter of Olive (Kirk) and Felix Simmerman, was born April 3, 1922, in Madison County.
Dora grew up in Madison County. She graduated from high school and received her teaching certificate from UNI.
On Dec. 22, 1945, Dora married Garold “Buss” Denly in Osceola.
Dora taught school in one-room country school houses, including Brush College. During World War II, she worked for the ordinance plant in Ankeny helping with supplies for the troops. She also worked as a secretary for Ralph Evans, school superintendent when Osceola combined their one-room school houses into the school system. She later worked other secretarial jobs until she and Buss purchased the Sears Catalog Store in Osceola. Together they owned and operated the store for more than 17 years.
Dora was a member of the Ophir Chapter No. 267 of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Christian Church in Osceola.
Dora is survived by her sons, Mark Denly of Osceola and Rod Denly (wife Mary Guillaume) of Des Moines and granddaughters, Anita and Angel Denly and Ashley Guillaume all of Des Moines.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant son Gary; brothers and sisters, Manard, Vada, Bill, Nelson, Nita, Gerald and Ross.
