Elmer Isaac Rowley Dies After Accident

Rhodes—(Special)—Elmer Isaac Rowley died Thursday afternoon at the home of his nephew, Glen Van Tuyl, of Rhodes. Death was due to pneumonia which developed following an injury Mr. Rowley suffered a week ago when he was kicked by a horse.

Mr. Rowley was the son of Rev. C. C. and Mary Rowley and was born April 25, 1877, near Truro in Madison county. He spent his boyhood and young manhood in the parental home and after the death of his father continued to live with his mother for some time.

He later lived in Oklahoma and for the last 15 years had made his home with his nephew, in Osceola, until the latter moved this spring to Rhodes.

He is survived by two brothers, George of Poteau, Okla., and James of Enid, Okla. A sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Baker, lives in Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Rhodes Methodist church in charge of the Rev. H. W. Artman. Burial will be in the Eden cemetery here.

Elmer Isaac Rowley, son of the Rev. C. C. and Mary Rowley, was born April 25, 1877, near Truro, Madison county, Iowa. His boyhood and young manhood were spent in the parental home. After the death of his father he continued to live for a time with his mother and then spent several years in Oklahoma. The last 15 years he has lived with his nephew, Glenn Van Tuyl. He went to Rhodes, Iowa this spring from Osceola.

Thursday, April 27, he was severely injured by a kick by a horse. Later pneumonia developed which resulted in his death a week later, Thursday, May 4. He was 67 years of age.

The son of a Methodist Protestant minister, Mr. Rowley was always interested in the church and the Christian life.

He is survived by two brothers, George Rowley of Poteau, Oklahoma, and James Rowley of Enid, Oklahoma, and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Baker of Rhodes, together with several nephews and nieces.

The funeral was held in the Rhodes Methodist church Saturday at 2 p.m. in charge of the Rev. H. W. Artman. Pallbearers were Ralph Lehman, Lester Tribby, Wm. Tribby, J. M. Rowley, George Rowley and Glen Van Tuyl. Mrs. Russell Buck and Mrs. Allen Tribby sang with Miss Agnes Buck accompanist. Burial was in Eden cemetery at Rhodes.
