Mel Benedict, 86, a former resident of Creston, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Donald Mullins, at Indianola, Sunday evening. Mr. Benedict and his wife had lived in Creston for about 10 years before going to Indianola to make their home with their daughter when ill health forced them to give up their own home about two years ago.
Mr. Benedict is survived by his widow, Rosa; five children, Mrs. Wilma Overton of Vancouver, Wash., Vernon Benedict of Lake City, Minn., Kenneth Benedict of Osceola, Loren Benedict of Creston, and Mrs. Vanora Mullins of Indianola; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Overton funeral home at Indianola at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at King’s cemetery, north of Peru.
