Page 1, Columns 2, 3, & 4Andrew Anderson, father of T. T. and J. M. Anderson of the Herald was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania, September 12th, 1812 and died at his home in St. Charles, Madison County, Iowa, March 11, 1878. In 1854 in company with his brother William H. Anderson and families, he came to Iowa, living for a time first in Davenport, then in Oskaloosa, removing from there in the fall of 1857 to Warren County, settling near Greenbush in Greenfield township, where he lived until about one year before his death, when he removed to St. Charles where three of his sons lived. He was the father of nine boys, four of whom are still living, the two named above and J. T. and R. P. of Seward, Neb.
Father Anderson was a man of noble traits of character and was universally respected by all those with whom he had to do in life—a sentiment that will be endorsed by the many old friends who will view and recognize his face in the above picture.
In religion he was a United Presbyterian and politically a strong abolitionist and republican. This picture was recently published in the new history of Warren County, and having the cut, we felt the many who had known him in life in the north and west part of the county would be pleased to have it appear in the Herald.

Home and Miscellaneous ItemsAndrew Anderson died at his home in St. Charles, Madison county, on the 11th of March. He was a native of Washington county, Pa., born in 1812, and was in his 66th year at the time of his death. Mr. Anderson moved to Iowa in 1854; settled in Warren county in 1857, and settled in St. Charles, where resides three of his sons, some six months ago. He united with the church when but 19 years of age, lived a consistent Christian, and passed away in the joyous hope of life immortal.
We knew father Anderson when we were a boy, and he an apprentice in the harness shop of Matthew McCoy, in Cadiz, Ohio. He came to Iowa the same year we did, and moved to this county in the same year we moved here, and our long acquaintance had ripened into respect and love for this venerable father, and we truly sympathize with those who mourn the loss of father and husband. He leaves a wife and five sons, who were present at his death. Peace to his sacred dust.
